At the Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Winnipeg Public Library Board will be proposing amendments to By-law No. 1, as follows:
The secretary is to attend
all meetings of the board or of members (Insert:) as needed, and act as clerk of board meetings, recording all votes and minutes of proceedings in the Minute Book. The secretary is responsible to give notice of meetings of the members or of the board and to do whatever else the board requests. The secretary is responsible for the Corporate seal. The secretary shall be the Privacy Officer for the Corporation.
(Insert:) The secretary shall be the Records Manager for the Corporation. The president may designate a board member to act as secretary on an as-required basis.
The annual meeting shall always:
o Receive the President’s report
o Receive the financial statements and Accountant’s report
Approve an annual budget for the association
o Appoint an accountant
o Elect a board of directors and officers for the ensuing year
o Deal with any other business brought before it.
We expect a full house for our annual Books & Brunch on May 1st at The Gates on Roblin. Get your tickets early! They are $60 with a $25 tax receipt.

The Best of Friends Gift Shop will be closed from December 25th to January 3rd. Happy Holidays everyone!
Along with the Millennium library, the Best of Friends Gift Shop will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. You are invited to drop by on Friday, November 6th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday, November 7th from noon to 4:00 pm. Enter our anniversary draws, check out the jewellery and gift ideas, and share a memory of the shop. You could be the lucky winner of a pair of 2016 Books and Brunch tickets!

Our 11th annual Fall Book Sale was the most successful to date: Over $13,500. raised! Book sale queen, Billie Stewart, praises the wonderful volunteers who made it happen and thanks the hundreds of people who came through the doors of the Grant Park High School Gym last weekend. Monies raised go to support public library programs and projects.
The Friends of the Library Book Club meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month on the second floor of the Millennium Library. New members are welcome at any time – just come to the second floor and ask staff to direct you to the meeting room.

Fall Book Sale chair, Billie Stewart, reports that donations for our Fall Book Sale have been first rate this year – especially fiction, mystery and cookbooks of every kind!
